"Towering pines inspired a home that honored its site" is how author, Aric Karpinski, put it when writing his article about the home in Detroit Home Magazine. Wrote author Dale Mulfinger in his book, The Getaway Home, "The forest setting inspired the choice of materials in the house. Heartwood pine floors, knotty pine wainscoting, and a fieldstone fireplace create a traditional but luminous cottage interior". Designed by architect Marco Silveri and built by Roger Widing of R. Widing Construction with landscape architecture by Cynthia Silveri, the cottage intentionally minimized the impact on the spectacularly treed acre the owners had spent the prior 10 years camping on while dreaming of the future cottage they would build. Their goal was to incorporate the natural landscape and surrounding forest as much as possible while building a timeless cottage in the purest sense. It all came together in a truly exceptional classic cottage that will surely align with any discerning buyers' image in their mind's eye of what they hoped to find in northern Michigan.
